Beyond the eye candy for 2005 standards, never being anything more than a glorified tech demo, the second part of the Half-Life saga turned out to be extremely impotent. The characters are just loathsome, horribly written and immersion breaking "quest giver" tanks.
I think this piece, like religion, promotes a view that promotes humanity. I think that's a bad thing because I think humanity is trash. Not just religion helping to promote it but a lot of human institutions in general, but that's a main component of it. It involves misplaced arrogance of humans, their smelly children, and their ignorant ancestors.
Without realizing it, many people, including those who are atheist perhaps and otherwise not affiliated, help to promote that propaganda all the same. Usually the types who defend people just to defend them for "likes" to signal for themselves, involving refusal to admit how these cultural and other institutions help to degrade society and living things. Meanwhile, it seems like an extremely high percentage of human institutions and human orthodoxy is extremely cruel, destructive, and more casually, just irritating and defending what shouldn't be. Media and pop culture also easily promote these horrors while conveniently refusing to go into detail about it in some insecure fit, usually in order to get more profits or "likes" and ratings. I'm talking video game companies and platforms as well.
