Anyone else getting stuck all the time?
Like legitimately, my enjoyment of the game is rapidly declining because I get stuck in every single room. Yes, I am stupid but to not be able to figure out where to go literally ALL the time? It's pissing me off so much ngl

i was a few times, but that's about it. my first experience of the game's traversal was 70% "just explore the place and eventually stumble upon the exit", 20% puzzles and 10% "where am i supposed to go".

if you really find no fun or even a motivation to keep going in a game, then honestly don't bother. even if you were supposedly super stupid, i doubt wasting time on a video game you don't enjoy is a solution at all.

Think they used to call them open world games where you have multiple paths to and from an objective and mentioned above required exploration as opposed to the telling you where to go and what to do.

Where's the fun in that?

i ALWAYS get stuck on the roof in a city 17 mission where you have to kill 3 striders that walk around the ruined building, then one of your mates says "go to the horse" and i have no idea what to, because they way is a very thing railing. But at least the reward is brane scan.

Welcome to the club, I somehow found a secret that only 10% of players have apparently reached before finding the main progression path in a level.

I think the thing that messes with the modern gamer brain is that the structure, scale and detail of the maps almost RESEMBLE what you'd see in an open world game, but actual progression is very much linear and often requires you to interact with small objects scattered around in a sea of immersive decorative props.

The best advice I can give is just, "you'll get used to it." Like most games from before the video essay era, it's grounded firmly in its own internal design logic and the more you play it the more of a subconscious sense you'll develop.

Is that at the end of Follow Freeman? If so last time I played, it took about 70 secs on the roof, I also didn't hear the to the horse.

My vid takes place in the same chapter. but think it has to do with the way you play it.

I think you still hear "To the horse" statement because you're in that area for so long, (playing the default route), e,g, killing everything and picking up as much supplies as available) keeps you in the area much longer than you actually need to be there.

As for the narrow walk over the i beams, once you're at the end corner of the 2nd beam you can long jump to the exterior wall opening.

It's been a really long time since I played HL2 but I kinda remember there may be more than one reference to the horse statue. I may start replaying my older vids to see if my brain is faulty or not.

If you're interested, I begin my climb to the top floor at 17;24 and then begin moving across to the exposed I beams at 18:28. Everyone has a preferred method of play, but you can make it easier on yourself by eliminating time spent killing things you really don't need to, thereby eliminating damage and supply pick ups.
