HL2 Update or Cinematic mod?

I'm considering replaying HL2 with an update mod. Should I use the official HL2 update by Philip Victor, or the cinematic mod (http://cinematicmod.com/ ,which actually looks more polished.

The update looks nice and all, but after all is said and done, not too different from the original.

The Cinematic Mod is great at re-polishing the environment, but that's where it pretty much ends because the developer thought it would be great to pimp characters, pimp guns, and make City 17 and its surroundings into The Last of Us.

What makes it worse is that he keeps it in the mod despite the fact that it's optional.

HL2 updates seems more faithful to the original without too much cluttery as what cinematic did.
I play HL2 with SMOD hehe, I prefer using CSS or DODS weapons...coz HL2 should have an m60 vn so I can go Gordon Rambo like crazy and aimdown the sites and do kick moves + bullet time, LOL!
