gman is the bad guy?

in ep 2,right after alyx delivers g-man's message we hear eli talking about the g-man bringing in the crystal,which sent the world to hell. is he the bad guy?

We do not know what the gman's plans are, but he is not with or against the combine. His employers have their own mysterious plan, we do not know what their motivations are.

all we really know is he works under unknowen employers to achive an unknowen goal

its true that gman did cause black mesa to create a cascade but he also brought gordon 20 years later to stop the combine

ELI is the only other confurmed person to have directly interacted with G-Man and was going to reveal more before he was interupted by alyx comeing back in the room with the tea

and the vortigaunts interrupt gman during EP1 and the start of EP 2 (only breaks free from the vorts when there distracted healing alyx

what posision he holds is unknowen but his intentions arent clear and hes an enemy to the combine (only really conformed in alyx)

we were ment to know about him more in hlep3 but ofc that never came

he also had no reason to save alyx when she was a baby but he did

this would imply there was no real factual meaning behind saving alyx but then he moves onto this

"Still. I am not one to squander my investments. and I remain confident she was worth far more than the initial... Appraisal"

which would also imply that he had intentions of using her at a future point (which arguably could be HL:ALYX)

"That's why I must now extract from you some small repayment owed for your own survival. See her safely to White Forest, Doctor Freeman"

he planned to put freeman into stasis again and use him something unrelated to Earth (or some point in time where gordon was forgoten / dosn't exist yet) or just directly leave him to die (9/10 alyx aswe)

"[to Alyx] Well now, listen carefully, my dear. When you see your father relay these words "Prepare for unforeseen consequences" "

this then is something aimed towards eli (where he later gets killed off caused by gman or not is unclear

G-man possibly spared alyx without a true purpose in mind just leaving it with "she may come usful in the future"

and only used alyx for something when gordon freeman escapes the citidel because of the vortigaunts

but he possibly saved alyx as he knew alyx would be key to gordon going through the segments of the citidel having no real way to progress without her and have her die to the explosion (and have gordon presumed dead as he goes back into stasis)

He doomed humanity by handing over the Xen crystals to the science team.

He doomed race x by forcing corporal Shepard to stay back and led him to kill the gene worm.

He doomed the combine by releasing Freeman at City 17, knowing he will wreck havoc and bring down the combine leadership there.

He wanted nihilanth to be doom so his employers have control on Xen.

This gman guy is playing all sides without any known motives or goals. All we know is that he is doing this to serve his employers. He does act on his own though sometimes, like saving alyx and Shepard's life was his own decision as he is fond of those two people.

So he is someone that has access to the future, seen of or been there and knows something even his employers are unaware of.
Said future has a number of individuals present that cause or prevent an event that solves/corrects an issue that may involve the combine or something even worse and develops a brighter future, maybe

but i am not sure if he can see the future as the vortigaunts did save alyx and gordon after gman was going to put gordon back into stasis and he says "we'll see about that"

but at the same time maybe he knew it was going to happen to begin with

Sometime within the last couple decades I read something, (may have been a sci fi novel for all I can remember) postulating infinite dimensions, comprised of virtual mirror universes with mirror Earths.

Said "Earths" mirror our own but not exactly, like an earlier or a later time period and or where the Roman empire never fell for examples.

That time travel, (into future or past) of Earth (A) within dimension (#1) isn't possible but that the leap is dimensional transfer and may end up on Earth (Q) in dimension (pick a number).

So maybe Gman jumped to a dimension and time period where Alyx, Barney, Shepard, Gordon, etc, etc, etc, and who knows what else maybe existed in said dimension where they were the impetus that eliminated or created whatever it is that causes a cataclysmic event.
