FOV Higher than 90?

I NEED to have my FOV higher than 90. You'd think such a gold standard in PC games would let you choose whatever you want. I looked every where online, and nothing works for me.

Well, that sounds like an opinon. I get motion sick very easily unless I have 100+ FOV

yeah, a gold standard from 2004, they didn't need 120 fov at that time.

I remember have my FOV on 105 on games back in 2004 as well

Did you both find a workaround? As far as I know, fov_desired doesn't work with anything above 90. Even the console shows the minimum is 75 and the maximum is 90.

Yeah, it still only goes from 75 to 90

Turn on cheats and type in console "fov_desired 100" then turn off cheats again

Think the max with sv_cheats 1 is 140

From what I remember it won't let you alter fov until you meet Alyx Vance on the d1_trainstation_04 map (I think this is when you get your hazard suit) However, Lost coast, ep1+2, TF2, Portal allow fov changing from the beginning.

yeah but the fov still maxes out at 90

Not with the suit, don't ask me why. Well it used to, looks like they changed something in the last few years. Doesn't even zoom weapon model when you zoom the world.

Jeez, at least let users have higher FOV with cheats. Higher FOV is allowed in this country.

I can't believe it, they even screwed up episode 1, used to be able to do greater than 90 deg FOV in episode 1, uggghhhh...

Did Valve straightup wholesale ban greater than 90 horizontal FOV for all source engine games accross the board? Only way is to get VR now?

Try Half-Life 2 Update. Maybe they still have the option unless they are dependent on the original HL2 some how.
