Any way to let the music playout while and past loading screen in HL2 ?
I get really frustrated when the music just stop at loading screen. Is there a was to let it play to the end or fade out when loading ?

I look for a fix on the web but can't seam to find anything related.

The music is too good to just cut out...

Strangely it does not work for me. I run the steam version and set to auto update [Build Label: 2257546].

By the way I use some custom skin with custom sounds and scripts. Could it be this that cause conflict ?
No not auto update I mean the mod "HL2: Update"

Sorry, should have been clearer.

Half-Life 2: Update fixes this, the music fades out as you approach the loading screen instead of just stopping.

No problem.
Was the original release version of Half Life 2 with thie feature or did the music always just abruptly end when you hit a loading transition?

I remember reading a post on reddit about how the music would keep playing between levels with the original Half Life 1 Gold Source version, but I can't find any information about Half Life 2's release version.

I would love to see this in action for Half Life 2: Update, but I am currently replaying through HL2's Collector's Edition Release Version instead, to see the game as I remember it back when it first came out in 2004.

As far as I remember the music did cut abruptly in the original version.

Even with the fade out in hl2:update, it's still sad to not hear the entirety of the songs.
My workaround was to take it slower/waiting before hitting the load triggers. Maybe it's due to engine limitation because it's very odd to me that this was always been like this...

Compared to the vanilla, update fix mostly bugs and changes some model to the assets from hl2:ep 1 & 2. The changes are so minor that I'm confortable to recommend hl2:update for new players. But I understand your wish to experience it exactly as you remember.

Best of luck.

Few years late but Valve officially added a console command to allow music to continue past loading screens.

Type "save_transition_music 1" in the console. No idea why it's not the default.
