Not these days for the full price of €10, because it's quite dated and due to the strict linearity has low replay value. The weapons and map definitely make replaying it fun one or two times, though.

If you have other Half-Life games already, take a look at the Half-Life Complete bundle, which is one of those that subtract the costs of games you already have. Blue Shift and Opposing Force are very good, too (for the type of game and age, I mean).

You should also take a look at Black Mesa, which is a stellar Half-Life 1 remake. While it's worth the full price of €20, ...

... best wait for the Halloween Sale. At least we had one last year.

i do agree about Black Mesa but I'd hold off on getting it until any more information from the Developers say anything about XEN as it's from my knowledge still not in the game!

But the game until then is very well done, so discounted at €10 or something, it's a must-buy for a Half-Life and/or shooter fan, XEN or not. I mean, if they never implement it - will you never play it? Or do you mean one should rather wait until XEN is in? ... Yeah, I guess that's what you meant.

yes i myself am holding off getting Black Mesa until XEN is in it to me it's not a complete remake if a section of the game that was in the original isn't there and unlike some people i actually enjoyed XEN cause it changed things around from how the game was until you got to XEN!

Yes it is worth getting. Half-life and Half life 2 are the damn trademarks for steam, it's what started everything else, get it for that reason if nothing else. The game has a long enough story to make it worth $10-$20 and it's a good story with lots of action. Still looks ok even by todays graphic standards.

if you enjoy having your hand held sure get HL2

Doesn't matter the gameplay feels good enough and the story is entertaining enough to play still. I recommend HL2:Update or Cinematic Mod though for graphics goodness if you can. If not vanilla is fine. I still play HL2 every couple years start to finish cause it's just a good romp and the games pacing is brisk as hell.

Its boring.

I don't see hand holding in HL2 and it isn't any more linear than HL1. What I do see is Alyx getting in the way as much or more than the rebel members. Especially in EPs 1 & 2 the narrow corridors are difficult enough to operate in but when she blocks movement I get killed. I've taken to emptying clips into her head as often as Magnusson
