How to get the HL2 mods to show up in your library

I've had the same problem as some players have had with their mods not showing up in the steam library.
And I did find a solution on wiki-how website that might just work for some of you at least. Already posted this as a reply on some threads on this subject.
I have decided to make this a separate subject for a post.
You have to refresh the steam game files.

Go down to method 2 where it says: Refreshing Steam Files in Windows.
Follow the directions listed.
This should work (hopefully for all of you).

I did that before and it didn't work. Which is why I posted this duh.

then search for the mod,the liblary sometimes keeps it in the hidden category

Did that too. And it still didn't show up. Then I refreshed my game files on steam. After that they did show up. A lot of people have had same problem with mods not showing up even after restarting steam. As an extra option I suggest this as a possible fix.

Not some obscure mod from 2003. Any mod for HL2 on moddb.

After doing this (refreshing my steam files) I've been able to download any mod/play them. So I'm not unlucky anymore.
