I found a few creative methods with the boat and buggy that made them even more fun
The entire "WH" chapter or just the "in boat" sections?
How long does it take you?
Are you poking into everything and following the default route or just completing objectives?
My last run thru was 15 1/2 mins
Oh and to point out the obvious length is not the same as time taken in this context. It's not about how long it takes to finish, it's about how much of the game itself is taken up by this one niche (e.g.: is it 25% of the game? Is it 30% of the game, etc.)
OP I'm as confused as you. The airboat and buggy sections were probably my favorite parts of the game. It would be nice for people to explain WHY they don't like them, because maybe they're seeing something I'm not and it would be interesting to get a fresh perspective, but this kind of thing just devolves to "my opinion is fact" so it's almost always a waste of time
I'm not surprised. The Xbox version is pretty much unanimously considered the worst version of HL2. Thankfully I was already a full-time PC gamer by the time HL2 came out. Kind of odd considering, at least in my opinion, the PS2 version of HL1 was superior to the PC version. Funny how back in the day before simultaneous development, the console ports in some ways tended to improve the game or at the very least closely match the PC version (Deus Ex was also a good example, and it was first played by me on PS2 as well)
This is the internet expect differences in opinion everywhere, there is no right answer here stop trying to project your views on to others.
In order to attract eyeballs, "content creators" will do and say contrary things.
The Water hazard chapter takes just 8% of the total time spent playing the game the way I do.
14 chapters = 200 mins (total time) - 15.5 mins (Water Hazard includes intro and exit) = 184.5 mins.
Very little overall game time spent on the chapter, said chapter total also includes the time spent completing objectives out of the boat, so the actual boat time would be less than 8%.
Maybe you're just not taking full advantage of the opportunities offered in the chapter.
