What's the scariest sound effect in the series

For me it's the poison zombie noises, they sound in absolute agony, and everytime I hear them I check to see if a poison head crab is flying towards me

Ambience sounds especially creep me out. Valve masterfully crafted them, some are distant battles, others are haunting screams from a desolate town and some others just give this "liminal spaces" feeling, so normal and common yet listening to them alone give them a creepy vibe.

RE1 sewer hunters had a similar scream when on a hunt

I think it's less of these abominations haunting our dreams and more that in the moment it causes at least some panic and discomfort.
