"I still have nightmares about that cat..."

In this part of Half-Life, Barney references some sort of cat, who Alyx has not heard about but Kleiner probably heard about.

In your opinion, what do you think the cat was about.

Apparently the cat was part of some failed teleportation test, which got it killed.

It is a reference to the original version of the movie "The Fly". In the movie the inventor successfully teleports several inanimate items and they all come out the other side unharmed. But when he tried it on his cat, the cat never appeared at the receiving side, but haunting meows could be heard all around the room for a minute.

Dr. Kleiner tested his teleporter on a cat. Cut lines from Barney state that the cat returned to the lab turned inside out and Barney had to turn it right-side out to confirm that it was the cat that they had tested on

I don't know why, but I always thought the cat was Lamarr, and got switched with a headcrab during a teleportation test, and that's why Lamarr seems to be much more docile than any other headcrab we've seen.

I think the cats legs were broken, like i mean that model of that cat.. Its legs looks broken cuz of that teleporter somehow.. I think thats probably why Barney has nightmares of that cat.

The cat came back turned inside out and Barney had to turn it right side out to make sure that it was a cat
