Is it possible to beat the train in Highway 17 ?

Is it possible to pass the bridge before the train wreck your ride nor you need to backup and wait for it all the time.

I remember back in the days you could pass just when the train passed that would sent the car flying toward the coast and allow us to continue at a loss of some health.

But to my recent gameplay, it's impossible to do it again.

I was able to beat it one time on vanilla HL2 but was hit hard. If it weren't for the boulder outcrop below and to the left of the tracks I would have been tossed into whats left of the ocean.

Always beat it in HL2 update

So I'm not the only one with the issue. Beating the train used to be easy back in the day, now I can't do it for the life of me.

It's a coinflip if you can beat it or not. When I was stuck (a bit earlier than at Bridge Point) I watched a walkthrough on Youtube and got to that moment in the video when a guy beat the train and I thought that this was the intended way. So I tried few times and I made it at 5th try or something
