Lambda Locator bugged
Hey,

I recently (yesterday) replayed hl2 to get the lambda locator achievement. I got every single cache and didn't miss a single one, but one of them (number 35) won't register which makes it impossible for me to get the achievement. Does anyone know what causes this bug, and what I could do to fix it? Is there any way to fix it without uninstalling/reinstalling the game? As far as I know, doing that will reset my progress on the achievement meaning I'd have to play through the game again.

Has anyone else had this bug?

Sometimes if a particular location is bugged it may be necessary to start a New Game at that chapter, or alternatively use the "map" command to start closer to the missing cache.

To confirm it is #35 you are missing, please post the original "data" value here, from this file: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\gamestate.txt

I ended up going into the game files and manually changing the state which I needed to get the achievement, which it seems most other people needed to do aswell.

How exactly do you do that? I went into the gamestate file and saw that the last lambda was marked as E instead of F so I changed it to F, and nothing. I did the whole converting it to binary thing and confirmed that the last cache is the one that's missing, and bugged.

I can't exactly remember how I did it but I remember there was a thread made in this forum discussing how it can be done. That's what ended up working for me. I'd suggest combing through the forum till you find that thread. Best of luck friend! :headcrab:

EDIT: I remember now, I ended up changing it so that the very first lambda cache was not found and the one which was bugged was found!!!! This made it so that when I went back and found the first one the game registered the achievement. The first lamba cache is scripted to be found as it's the entrance to Kleiner's lab. I'd suggest doing this.

Thanks. I'll try the first lambda cache thing you mentioned. I hope that works, because I'm not looking forward to redoing levels to find out which one I'm missing, or something like that.

Update: that didn't work.
It just gave me 44/45 again. This is bs.

That sucks. I'm almost positive you're missing the 35th cache since that's the bugged one. Hope you find some way to finish this, good luck friend!!

Hey I see you were able to get this achievement. Do you remember if you found a fix for it?

I don't remember what I did differently. I assume I just replayed the entire game.

replaying the game doesn't do anything, you need to go into the game files and manually change it from not found to found.

Okay. Maybe I did that. Like I said thought, I don't remember what I did (differently). I'm unsubscribing from this thread now.
