HL2, HL2E1, HL2E2 - Linux
How come the Russians play pirated HL2+ NATIVELY on Linux and yet those of us who purchased the game on Steam don't have that privilege? The game page on Steam shows only Windows and Mac. This only tells me you want your games to be pirated...

All of Valve's games support Linux.

It's weird that there's no mention of it on the Steam page but it does support Linux.

Wait to hear (read) the weirdest part: when I click install, the Client downloads the Windows version, regardless of the fact I'm running Linux.

It downloads the Linux version on my Ubuntu machine.

I just had a hint from a friend who had this problem with another game. He told me to backup and then delete the whole "user data" folder from the Linux Steam Client and then try to download the game. But he knows only where the Windows "user data" is and I can't find it in Linux.
So, do you have any ideas where it might be?

~/.steam/steam/userdata

Thanks, IntriguingTiles.
And yup, that worked - deleting the user data did the trick and the proper game version was downloaded.
