Hostile Intent and possibly Firearms which were both mods for the original Half Life did in fact use the iron sights to fire. Much more realistic that way. I know SMOD and possibly SMOD Tactical for Half Life 2 allows you, but possibly does not force you to use iron sights. I also know this is probably a troll thread, but I will bite...

No problem. SMOD does not force you to use iron sights and although it is a neat feature, I am finding it just plain easier to use the cross hairs most of the time. However they add a LOT of extra content. I have only just begun to play, but it seems to have all sorts of neat features. The crowbar for one can be thrown, although you also have to retrieve it. You can in fact kill your allies if you choose to as well.
