I've found the singing vortigaunt cave but the game won't give me the achievemen

Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?

For shi*s & giggles you checked both in game and Steam achievements both say -0-?
I've never used cheats, but if one sets cheats in any chapter, continues, saves then restarts from said save, (unless reset to off) cheats are still active yeah?

It took about 2 wks for my in game and Steam achievements to agree so if you haven't been messing with the console and 1 says yes and the other no, wait a couple days and check again
