change resolution?

hey so looks like i messed up my game....
i changed the resolution and now the game starts and i see only the desktop even after reinstalling ....
can anyone tell me wich file i must change to alter the resolution in the filesystem?

just to add i deleted all cfg files (just to be sure and even installed all 3 games 2 times but the res stays at the incompatible size

You could try right clicking the game in steam, go to properties, click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS". And then type this into the box: "-w [resolution width] -h [resolution height]"

Obviously leave the quotes out and replace the [ ] with your resolution.

For instance mine would be: "-w 1920 -h 1080"

For those who are still wondering where the video settings are stored - it's in the registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\Source

Every Source game or mod has each own subkey there. Some games could have alternative entries under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\Source\C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps
