"What Cat?" Achievement
So I'm finally going through the game, trying to pick up some of the achievements I never bothered with before. The trouble I'm having is that the "What Cat?" achievement doesn't seem to be working.

I've looked a some examples and guides online, and from everything I've seen, I'm pretty sure that I've done everything correctly. The mini teleporter breaks after ~10 uses, the cactus disappears, etc. The Steam overlay says "So close..." under the achievement, but it doesn't unlock. Tried it about a half dozen times, occasionally using other, larger objects in the teleporter, but that doesn't do the trick, either.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Turn off sv cheats if u got it turned on

Not turned on.

Also, should have mentioned it in OP, but I started the current playthrough after a fresh install of the game, un-modded, on a recently-rebuilt PC. So there shouldn't be any issues, right?

No there shoudnt lol
also try to use it more if that doesnt work in red letter day then try it again at the start of anticitizen one where you go back to kleiners lab

Ugh. It worked when I revisited Kleiner's lab after Nova Prospekt. Maybe that's the only time you're supposed to be able to earn the achievement?

Don't believe so, once I became aware of "achievements" (Seeing a confirmation text when acquired) I looked it up. When I replayed chapter 2, I wrecked the mini transporter on the initial entry to the lab.

Be aware, 3-4 of the achievements I acquired in HL2 were delayed for some reason, one of them (Keep off the sand) didn't show up for nearly 2 weeks.

That's odd, about achievements showing up after a time lag. Maybe my Keep of the Sand will show up soon, then.

At any rate, my What Cat? did pop up in a timely manner when I tried the achievement in the later chapter. The part I find very odd is when I tried it in the earlier chapter, the overlay said "So close..." under the achievement. I can't figure out why it would say that.

It's a moot point now, though. I have the achievement, and once I get my final 2 I probably won't play through the main story again any time soon.
