You'll still have to deal with it of course.
There's a guy on YouTube called BigMac Davis who's done full walkthroughs of all the Half Life games so far. ( not the VR yet )
He shows you where everything is...so the headcrabs aren't a shock when they show up.
And in game they're actually kind of funny. He approaches it with a lot of humor about the enemies.
But yes, some of the monsters are potentially gruesome or scary if it affects you that way.
Personally it doesn't bother me that much. But some of the zombies with multiple fast headcrabs are rather icky.
The Half Life series is so interesting it's worth it.
It's the touchy crouch jumping that bothers me.Better to get attacked by a headcrab than miss a long jump.
There are plenty of other awesome things about it of course but that’s a big part.
I’m VR... if you couldn’t get through a flat screen old school looking game... im pretty sure you will literally rip off the headset and throw it against the wall when a crab jumps at you ;)
Didn't Skyrim do something like that with spiders? The results were a bit more disconcerting.

I was just thinking about that chapter while reading this, if they hate Headcrabs they're going to adore that part.
As for Ravenholm, yes is a bit spooky. Nowadays I know it by heart and just walk through it but I still remember playing it for the very first time, when HL2 was new (and I of course a lot younger). It was scary.
You could take Dog's Ball with you to Ravenholm. The ball follows you around. Zombies target the ball instead of you. And it oneshots the Zombies easier than the Shotgun. And lugging the ball around just adds a comedy factor to anotherwise spooky chapter.
Otherwise just skip this particular chapter.
