Linux: Half Life 2 wont start (says its running then immediately quits)
So I have this old Dell Latitude D620 laptop that I'm trying to get Half Life 2 to work on and I haven't really had any success. I think it should be possible because I've seen people get games like this working on something like a Latitude D600. So originally, I would launch it up and it would say that it couldn't find the required OpenGL entry point 'glGetError', and so I tried updating my drivers but that didn't work. I found one guy who said he fixed it by deleting his libGL.so.1 file so I just renamed mine and the error went away but now it just starts, says its running, and then exits out of it right after. I added back the file I renamed and then found another site that said to run a command that would remove one of the libGL.so files and make a symbolic link right after so I ran that and now it just does the same thing that It's been doing like it did when I renamed my libGL.so.1 file and no error will actually appear unless I actually go to the Half Life 2 directory and run "./hl2.sh" or "./hl2_linux" to which it will show a error saying, "SDL_GL_LoadLibrary(NULL) failed: Failed loading libGL.so.1: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory". I'm really not sure what to do now.

Tried that
did you ever figure out a solution for this?
whatever the issue was it's no longer relevant, as the game has been updated too many times.
it appears linux is no longer supported.
@chill out hl2 literally has a native linux build, most valve games do actually

It did.
Not anymore. Have to run through Proton. Steam Linux Runtime just crashes without error, like it does with any game that has no linux binary.
