How heavy is the Pulse Rifle?
Is there some strategy guide where the weight is mentioned somewhere on the net?

Or they could just be using Earth scrap metal. The AR2 (Pulse Rifle) doesn't use gunpowder, solid projectiles, or metal cartridges like our modern Assault Rifles.

It fires pulses of energy (I don't think they are lasers per se) which seem to originate from some kind of battery-like shell. Those could weigh a fair amount for their size, so that could be the main weight of the weapon.

The Energy Orb Cartridges could be on the heavier side too, but perhaps they are attached as needed like a rifle grenade (that's speculation on my part, since the AR2 seems to have only 1 "barrel" and no place that would seem to store the Orb Cartridges).

No doubt the Combine did study the remnants of Human armed forces somewhat in building the Overwatch Infantry forces, given the very human combat behavior and tactics they exhibit. At the time of the Combine invasion, when it came to service rifles, lighter was better, and the Combine probably noticed that and designed the AR2 along those lines, since they would be working in Earth Gravity of course.

As heavy as me ♥♥♥♥, which is about 10kg.

No there isn’t, but it’s probably no heavier them most other assault rifles as most adult humans seem to have no problem operating them.

There is no lore mention of a weight. But as Sovereign said above me, it is very likely close to the weight of average normal assault rifles.

I'd say it'd be a bit lighter than a regular assault rifle, as it doesn't require brass shells.

And likely made from synthetic composites. Now the GG, it looks like it weighs a ton whenever you see anyone else but Freeman lift it

OP, why do you want to know anyway?

It's clearly mechanical, not synthetic.

I see nothing "clearly" about it and what’s mechanical have to do with it. Just because the Pulse Rifle has moving parts does not indicate it isn’t made from composites. So the 3D crap they're fabricating today shatters after a round or 2 because its plastic doesn't mean the Space race you laud over as being undefeatable couldn't manage something tougher than a carbon fiber like maybe Q carbon

It's clearly made of metal.

Facts.

I'd say it's as heavy as any other assault rifle.

That's an excellent interpretation, but I have ideas of my own.
Combine soldiers don't seem to carry much. Real soldiers carry backpacks full of crap as heavy as the people carrying it, and since the Overwatch Soldiers are cyborgs, they could probably carry more, but they seemingly don't. Therefore, with the extra weight they could carry, a lighter rifle wouldn't be necessary.
In addition, many have posed the theory that the AR2 is actually a light machine gun in the vein of the BAR or something like it, which are usually pretty heavy.
Still, rebels seem to have no issue handling it, so it's probably reasonable in weight.

The game itself refers to it as the "Overwatch standard issue pulse rifle" and the "AR" in AR2 of course stands for "assault rifle". So no, it's not a LMG-style squad support weapon, it's the Combine's equivalent of a service rifle.

Even if it was an LMG it still wouldn't be all that heavy, as HL Expert points out Combine alloys would probably be lighter (yet stronger) then Earth metals.

True, but that doesn't explain why many Overwatch troops are armed with the SMG. Those don't seem to have any distinguishing purpose.

Also Overwatch Infantry probably don't carry much other than armor and weapons/ammo because A) they are somewhat expendable and B) have quite different needs than normal human infantry.

Given the heavy modification they have undergone, it is possible that they have thier own nutrition system built in, or recieve it from an energy cell, negating the need to carry food or water. Additonally, it is highly probable that they all have a medium range radio built into their helmets.

Finally, given that they have a very strong support system in the form of Dropships and APCs as well as the whole Combine infastructure, there is probably no need to carry any tents or other materials.
