Although, considering the relation to vorts, antlions may reproduce in a different way...
Vorts have no fear of ALs or spitters and vorthandle them with ease, other than that there is no history involving the 2 species.
Did the vorts attain their (electrostatic?) and spatial transportation abilities prior to or after their involvement with the AL larvae?
Seems to me there would be no need of guardians if ALs were a Xen genetic creation solely for the larvae juice?
If so how would/did they learn of the juice properties?
Even though they're called ant lions, have considerable physical similarities with terrestrial ants and share breeding/care practices with ants and bees it's safer to suggest they're -0- relation.
In any case, evolution or genetic manipulation requires dna and rna which is either organically produced and possibly manipulated or molecularly produced and organised
