I wanted people opinion and view over making a game/mod Goldsource and Source engines, I've in the past modify both games before, made maps, and tweaks, I've C, C++, C#, Python and small of Lua languages, I've more experience overall on Source then Goldsource, but I've always been of low polygon and old games, and would probably easier to start with Goldsource then Source, thanks for reading, I do appreciate it =)

Well, I'd first suggest heading over to the half life hub, there might be info there. Also, head over to runthinkshootlive and check out the information and tutorials there. Phillip has been doing some goldsrc tutorial videos lately, actually.

What can be done with that engine is still very surprising, honestly.

Thanks to Zekiran to redirect me, and I've made post on Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 =)

I only know how to mod for Source so my comment may/will be a bit biased. For me, Source is easier to work with cause Idk to mod for Goldsrc (infact idk how to even install a mod for HL1). The folder setup of materials, models, scripts, and sound makes sense to me. I also like to think that Source being newer than Goldscr that it can do more and seeing updates for it can still happen. I don't really see any new games being made using Goldsrc and the ones that were popular on Goldsrc such as Team Fortress and Counter Strike were ported over to Source and newer games of those series are also using Source. I'm not saying that Goldsrc is bad, games that use Goldsrc are still fun to play to this day. Of course both engines aren't without their own bugs and limitaions, but Source is my preference for creating mods for.
