Gravity Gun Achievement

Ok, so I went through all of Ravenholm without firing a single shot, didn't use any weapon but the Gravity Gun, not even the Crowbar. Now I'm out of the mines and facing the snipers at the coast, but I didn't get the achievement. I wonder, I did SELECT some other weapons during Ravenholm (accidentally hitting the [g] key), and I wonder, did that ♥♥♥♥ with the achievement?

Must've been an accident. Are you sure you avoided using all other weapons, including grenades and the shotgun, all the way from the beginning of Ravenholm to the end of the mines?

100% sure. I had other weapons selected, but never fired a shot, never threw a grenade and never hit something with the crowbar all the way to the snipers on Shorepoint.

did you have sv_cheats 1 on?

I didn't change any console variables, and I got other achievements or achievement progress (like Lambda Locator and Where Cubbage Fears To Tread), so I'm pretty sure no. I played one continuous session from Black Mesa East to after N.L.O. without changing any settings and got progress for achievements, just not the Gravity Gun one, hence my assumption I somehow messed up.

Well, I guess you might've had an accident at some point. The achievement is instantly discounted if you fire, swing, or throw a weapon that isn't the Gravity Gun. It starts from the beginning of Ravenholm to the end of the mines.

I'm sorry you didn't get the achievement. I actually have it myself, so don't worry. If I can get it, you can get it.

I managed to get this first time but I was very careful and even when given the shotgun, I swapped back to the gravity gun immediately. I also had this equipped the whole time from the moment it was first given to me not to take any chances.

Just wondering, is it possible to not pick up the shotgun in Ravenholm? I could still get it later, when faced with Combine Shotgun Troopers.

I think it's forced upon you by that bloke. I was initially concerned that it screwed up my run but it actually didn't impact it. I simply switched back to the Gravity Gun without a problem. Might be worth just selecting the chapter and doing a fresh run in a seperate save file and see if it'll work that way.

I got this achievement yesterday, you shouldn't select other weapons (at all! Just do not switch to them), use only gravity gun, so that it would be easier to bring a ball from the Black Mesa East! Good luck with this achievment, its easy enough!

Yeah, I read that a couple times now, gonna try it. Yesterday, I helped myself by ripping a heater of the wall and carrying it with me through three maps that had little to no other props (I don't think doing so was intended by the developers), and it was a suitable weapon against zombies, albeit I had to backtrack sometimes to retrieve it after propelling it towards zombies.

No, that can't be avoided. Just swap back to the gravity gun and continue as normal when that happens.

As I said before, no I wasn't. I got progress on other achievements, which would have been impossible with cheats on.
