Color correction problem?
Hey uh, i installed this game called Half-Life 2 like 2 days ago and it gave me the option to enable/disable color corrrection. To gain more FPS i disabled it, now after 4 hours of playing i got to the chapter "We don't go to Ravenholm" and things well, looked terrible, during nightime, walls were bright without any source of light lighting them up, it was painful to watch. So i decided to enable color correction to solve the problem and... It wouldn't let me do so, the arrow down button at the side of "Color Correction: Disabled" was dark and i couldn't click it, neither could i change the brightness of the game so. If anyone reads this and knows how to solve this problem i would greatly appreciate it and i would pray to him/her all nights like i do with lord gaben. By the way, if you do not understand what i mean you can check a screenshot that i posted on my profile

The game being this bright is due to mat_fullbright, a console command which basically disables lighting and makes everything lit. Some things automatically turn it on, like loading a map with no lights, but I guess tinkering with color correction settings might turn it on as well.

The fullbright problem is easy to fix.
  1. Enable the developer console in advanced keyboard options. (Go to the Keyboard tab and click Advanced)
  2. Open the developer console. ( ` by default, check keyboard options again to find exact bind )
  3. Enter the following command: mat_fullbright 0

If static props (models you know can't move, like a chainlink fence) are still lit, this can be fixed with mat_reloadallmaterials. You could also just wait until the next map.

Thanks so much dude you're awesome :steamhappy:
Almost at the end of "Highway 17" mat_fullbright 0 won't work and when i go to the next chapter "Sandtraps" (the one that i currently am) it happens the same, it won't work

You're entering mat_fullbright 0 and not just mat_fullbright? Try reloading the last save. (type "reload" in the console, or reload the last save manually)

If that doesn't work, you may have to reload the map entirely.

Look at the top right of your screen, console still open. If the console is in your way, move it like a window. There should be text which tells you what map you're on. For example, it may say " Map 'd2_coast_09' ".

Whatever it does say, type it into the console alongside the following command:
map <mapname>
Example: map d2_coast_09
