Weird controls issue: attack button gets 'stuck'

Okay, so I don't know what is going on, or how I can fix it, but whenever I hit Primary Attack or Secondary Attack (so left-click and right-click by default), the game keeps these pressed for me. I first noticed this in Kleiner's lab at the start of the game, where I could no longer pick up items without throwing them away or dropping them immediatly, after clicking either left or right click when holdign an item. A little later, when I got my crowbar the game seemed to behave like normal. But when I attacked once with it, the crowbar just kept swinging, as if I was hitting the button over and over again.
I tried remapping the attack buttons, before and after they got stuck, but this didn't change anything for me.

Has anyone else experienced this? And does anyone know a possible fix? I'd really like to play this game again.

I happened also to me. I just downloaded the game and started a new one. I kept firing for whatever the reason. I tried also running other games to see if this bug shows but nay. My first handgun ran out of rounds too bad. I used steam controller but I believe the controller worked fine because the bug showed after I used the mouse fire button.

~ You may want to try running the game in window mode, that solved the problem for me.

Yeah I just played with mouse and keyboard, so if it's the same problem it's not the controller's fault. I will try running in windowed mode, thanks for the advice!

I also had this problem once when playing with the Steam controller. Do you use a controller to play? If no make sure to disconnect it before starting Half-Life. If yes, than make sure you don't accidentally press/hold any keys while starting Half-Life or loading a game. The engine may confuse the up/down state of buttons and think that you are constantly hitting the fire button.

I wasn't playing with a controller. I tried to see if that fixed my issue, but it didn't

Is it possible a corrupted command is in place (toggle) where it should not be. Recently I lost the crosshairs and info brackets in mods, I eventually tried "crosshair 1" in the dev console and everything was back
