Population/Third Cycle advance issue ** DEVS READ PLEASE**
So I have everything balanced near perfection.
  • Moral 110
  • No deaths in three years
  • Stockpiles of all.
  • Only three babies in three years?

  • Concerned
Half my population is aged, and going to start dying soon I am predicting just from life.
Furthermore, only 6 settlers have visited in 3 years and no other way to increase population to get to Third Cycle. It has stood at 39 for two years..

My goal is to unlock Third Cycle and I need 50 population

  • Everything is researched that can be, and still no way to increase babies, or by having visitors stop in.

  • Lastly, a trader was to visit, that never came over a year ago... so there is that. What did he get lost on the way to the asylum?? Because I am feeling bananas.
Thinking of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest®, after all they call me Chief.

  • In closing
Please, explain this mechanic, because someone that has watched a screen for two game years, completed ALL missions, wave VERY patient, unable to build anything as there is NO need, toggle anything as I have done that because moral is at 110. If we wait a whole year to do nothing, then repeat that the next year, I turned it off. Please make it clear how population of visitors, or babies, are increased.
  • Also it seems with the age of the current starting crowd, they will be dead before the babies are old enough to work as mine stands at 3 for two years now. It did say in the third year there were two more babies born, but they are missing like the trader who never appeared.

I have at one time had moral maxed, thinking, it must be moral that boosts population, plenty of housing, and workers are happy as a mouse in a cheese wheel, but it was only thru a Winter cycle on day 77, so I thought come spring, we are the talk of the continent, we will get mass visitors, and all I received was mass disappointment. Nothing.

So clearly some people have figured out how to make population grow, or advanced by luck, but this is my first play thru, and to have everything NEAR perfect, and not being able to advance due to population is so depressing.

If anyone else can shed light, please do, but this is a very tough mechanic to figure.

Guess not.. :steamlaughcry: now if someone that reached the Third Cycle past the population issue, or the developers would reply, that would be something.

Guess I will stop playing until someone can help.. seems many people dont read threads, or respond. Wondering how some apparently got past the issue?

Dude it's been 2 hours and it's Friday morning. Discussion boards aren't live chat. Play something else for a while. You'll be ok.

Hi, I've managed to exceed 100 inhabitants in my little town. To tell the truth, it's complicated at first to understand how births and immigration work. But first of all, your town has to be attractive, morale has no effect on children.

Focus on abundant food and water, and build taverns in the residential sector of your town, one or two at the most.

Knowing that medicine, security and clothing are not available in this cycle, you have to focus on primary needs and make sure that your productivity and resource supply chain are stable.

Immigration, on the other hand, remains, in my opinion, very random and sometimes not really logical.

It took some time, but I eventually broke 50 with the help of yearly random groups joining.. then 100 seemed to happen almost in a season, which caught my food and water surplus by surprise when I noticed a big red zero where my thousands of water once was lol

I have played a few worlds since I got this game and I have to agree, there’s something weird about population growth that I can’t really figure out. It’s like the game forgets to spawn population or something. There should be a process to get more population, like a radio beacon.

I think there is that when you get on expedition, where you can build a guard tower i think it was, and that has something to do with people get to you, also.

Yea unfortunately till you get the ability to go on expeditions population growth sucks honestly best to just go and make your people happy so they make babies but even then i think its years till they grow up.

At your town hall there is an actions tab at the top, you will get the oppurtunity to send out parties to search for me people. I also belive that building watchtowers in the world map can help. I managed to have around 540 people. Now if i could only learn to build a train.........

I bought the game today to try it, i've played for 90 minutes on hard and it was.. alright, i'm hesitant to continue playing and pass the 2 hour mark, do you guys recommend it ?

Refund it, the game is a bugfest.
Everytime I save a game, and load the saved game afterwards, the number of children in the village resets to zero.
The year counter also resets. The game counts a year only when I go through all four seasons in one sitting. If I save a game, let's say in summer, new year will not come after the winter.
