You can make bridges, you just need to add a building over water and connect a path to both ends, then you can create pillars underneath if you drag the bottom up!

Flatten the roof.

Lift it up from the bottom to create pillars.

Place it over body of water!

you can use the colour tool to change the stone bridge to wooden handle stone bridge

While somewhat possible, it’s not very natural. I do wish it was possible to have curved bridges. When there’s water, bridge support is kinda expected.
