How to build a bridge
!. Clear the map of hills, starting structures, trees and roads.
2. Go over the entire open map and bring the "hills" right up to the maximum height for the whole map.
3. Sink a line of "water" straight through the entire map making a "canyon"
4. Place "towers" on each side of the canyon.
5. Raise the towers to max height.
6. Draw a long rectangle from "square building" between the two towers and orient the "bridge" to go across the canyon and attach it to the towers.
7. Finally...raise the base of the "bridge" from up under the water.
8. You might have to tweak it a bit but it should work and look good.

The trick is to start building on maximum hill height for the entire map so that when you draw a line of water it sinks deep into the map instead of drawing water on the low map that produce "pools" and such. I hope I was clear in my instructions...Cheers!

How to put arches under a bridge and add railings
=======================================

1. Start with a flat plain. Make a river. Put a Building over the river.
2. Right click bridge to show all tools. Collapse roof down to get flat roof.
3. Adjust wall height to set the desired bridge height. Adjust length and width.
4. Use terrain tool to build up terrain at ends of bridge.
5. Use the path tool to make paths to the two ends of the bridge.

At this point you have a bridge without arches and castellated stone railings.

6. Select the path tool and drag the slider to make it small.
7. On each side of the bridge, create arches by adding a patch of path in the water where you want the arch. Adjust using path and path eraser tools until the arches look ok and are not filled with gratings.
8. Select the colour tool and select the top of the wall of your bridge. There are various effects on the tool, as well as colours. One of them is for a medieval half timbered look. When applied, it generates a wooden rail on each side of the bridge.

Ruined Buildings including Bridges
===========================

1. Make the building and place it exactly where you want it.
2. Select the building erase tool and choose the smallest size.
3. Use it to partially erase a wall of the building.

The roof disappears and the building walls are converted to ordinary walls

4. Right click the wall to get the tools displayed and use the snip tool to break the
wall into sections. Vary the height of each section to get that ruined look.

You only get the walls, so if you want a part ruined house or bridge, you will need to overlap two houses and ruin one of them.

THese are very good tutorials. THank you. ANd hopefully the DEVs will take note of this and realize the oversight of not having an "easy bridge construction" key....and add easy bridges to the game. THis is a tremendous amount of work as a work-around to build bridges.

I probably did the same as everybody else when I was playing the game for the first time - drew a creek and then a path across it. No bridge. I noticed stepping stones later but they should be one of the options, not the only one.

We should also have a "door" placement option by itself instead of drawing a path through the side of the building.

Use the 2 windows, I found this out just by guessing lol. Also the window-doors can be combined for wider doors

when trying the method mentioned above, i found something interesting:
by creating the wall with a opening on it, it's possible to create a bridge with aperture(s?). but i haven't found a way to combine it with buildings :viulook:

Damn, so you need an engineering degree just to create a bridge?!
