How to lower terrain?
I know how to lift terrain, but how do i lower terrain?

You can't, unless there are some super secret trick that i don't know of. Or did you mean how to lower terrain that you have raised?. If so then it's just to do the opposite to when you raised it.

I use the button with the mountain, with an arrow pointing up.... what is the opposite of that???????

once you've drawn your terrain with the terrain tool you can raise it up, lower it, smooth it into hills or sharpen it into cliffs. if you simply lower it to the existing ground level, it is removed entirely. you cannot lower below the default ground level.

To lower it, you select the same tool, click the region you want to move - you should get it highlighted in light green - and then *drag* down with the mouse towards the bottom of the screen.

Edit: In other words, you're using the down arrow that appears when you have the region highlighted. And for what it's worth, I learned something too - I didn't realize you could round or steepen the raised area, until I saw the comment above.
