Ive gotta ask why, i dont see much downside, to allowing creative, and skillful players to add things they personally want to see to the game, and to share with others, and you dont have to even install it, its entirely optional
What did you have in mind? How or what will it add to the game? I'm not opposed to it, but I think it's good to have an idea or a plan, before one throws out "we need this!".
Knowing one of the devs from a very complex and advanced tutorial series for Houdini, I bet there's a lot of custom stuff going on behind the scenes. It's not so easy for outsiders (modders) to just tap into.
I don't really know what modding would do for this game at this point.
I have mad respect for the tools they have created for the player. Making archways and fences which adheres to surrounding buildings and terrain features just by clicking around is no easy feat!
Ideas are easy, developing them is a whole different story, but the ability for the community to even start is doing is kinda this game's whole principal...a place where your ideas are free form to build to your hearts desire. The only thing holding you back is your imagination...and mod support.
all that being said i am not sure mod support is really that viable, this team really is rather tiny and while it ~would~ greatly increase the odds of people buying this game for friends/family and staying longer in the game it also means there is a lot more work on the team's side with only potential benefit for it instead of guaranteed
People like modding games and adding their own little touch to it.
Can also be a good stepping point for getting into game dev for some.
But while having mod support is nice, sadly it's quite the undertaking for the devs part to add in such support.
