I like Thomas more. Ray is not very clever, He's straight and real bandit.

both have the avantages ray is good with dynamite and thomas is good with the whip and climbing

Ray. cooler outfit, dynamite, dual wield and can carry a gatling. Thomas has the bow and throwing knives but those are just gimmicks with no stealth

Both. It shouldn't matter their look or their skills, because in all chapters, they both have equal purposes and uses. It's highly recommended to use them as balanced as possible. Do Ray in one chapter, Thomas in the next.
