* Crash on startup?

Choose Proton 6.3-8 in compatibility mode settings.
For unknown reasons game does not work well with Proton 7, 8 or Experimental.

* Black screen on startup?

Just press Esc and wait few seconds.

* Broken resolution / image off screen?

Open video configuration file located in

~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/21980/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood/Out/Settings/Video.scr

(top directory may be different, it depends on how your Steam storage is configured) and change to native monitor resolution, like

Resolution(3840,2160)

.
Alternatively - remove

Fullscreen()

line to start in windowed mode.

This fixed game for me on Arch Linux + Ryzen 6800U APU.
And yes, it works in 4K flawlessly :)

This is old game that probably will never get patched. Especially for Linux compatibility.

There will be no patch, as Techland abandoned this game. I tried to send them Steam DRM-free version with fixes for Movies at least, they never responded. However, they were responding before I sent it to them and allowed me to take control of ModDB page, so if you look for any other fixes - like Movies Fix or some mods, custom maps - you can visit the ModDB page.

The game itself is pretty buggy on newer systems, however I never played it on Linux so I can't tell you
