Divinity II: Developer's Cut

Divinity II: Developer's Cut

This game is hard :p
Should i give this game a second chance? I bought it long ago, but it was very very difficult. I am a casual player, so i only play for the story and don't care about challenges.

Any tips? I tried to be a tank but i still died fast. I think i need some tips on armor and stats.

Also, the map was weird. Never understood where to go xP

don't be a tank, go ranged. melee is considerably harder since you pretty much have to take all the hits, while with a ranged character you simply shoot, dodge, run away, shoot again, whoa, enemy's dead already and you still have full hp.
I like tank summoner though. especially with a full scorpion set and charms :D level 17 ghost heals me and my creature distracts a couple of them

Well, i never got so far. It was kinda hard to know where to go, which quests to do first. Guess i'll give it a second go.

I could quote another game for you to try, Arcania Gothic 4. It's way easier, and since I played it before buying Divinity, it helped me understanding the battle system, whitch is very similar.
Dark Souls could train you very well too, but the difficulty there is way over Divinity.
But I can list some basics for you:
1st: This game is an action rpg, wich means: you won't win, if you fight like Kratos. You must observe your enemies. Even using a tanker char, try luring only one enemy towards you, then maintain some distance so it can use his attacks freely, whatch closely for the timing between his openings. Then you will have a pretty larger window of opportunity to hit and evade safely.
2nd: Unless you use cheats (which is a shame... My opinion), this games puts a cap to limit your level grinding, making it almost impossible to grind like classic rpgs (?final fantasy?). So the golden rule here is, explore every corner of the map first, discover as many enemies as you can and try to defeat then (but whatch their levels, some may be higher than your char), only go for quest hunts after doing this, in some cases, the enemies may respawn for the quest. More Enemies, more loot, more levels, more fun!
3rd: About the quests, yeah... I accept that they are confuse as hell, they serve the purpose of training your investigating skills. I won't spoil the story, but be aware that some npcs, even some areas of the game, you may only explore completely by completing the quests, and in a specific order. So always be thoughtful when choosing the next quest.
4th: It's your call to choose between struggling in the combats of the game, or breezing through it while cheating, you'll still experience the story. But I can ensure you, go easy on the challenges (and on yourself), be patient and learn from your mistakes (it's all about this), choices and consequences. I strongly advise that you try to go over this game by the usual way, without cheats nor playthroughs. You'll find much greater joy in overcoming it's enemies, and maybe it will awaken some taste for even deeper games, like Dark Souls.

Jump attack and whirlwind mixxed with a healthy dose of the warrior life leech skill.
Never, ever be stationary while surrounded.Overlevelling the area helps a lot too.
Alternate between rushing forward and jumping while approching a pack.the rangers you fight will be thrown off and 75% of thier shots will be way off.Melee foes will melt before you using this.Put the time into getting blood echelon suit before you do the maxos temple(last part is at the end of it)

Thanks for those tips...now i just wish there was an easier quest chain to follow...never know which quest to do when.

I had the exact same problem. Then I got the game for five bucks and it's a lot better. First, always take xp as your quest reward. Second, carefully choose your gear and abilities to augment your playstyle- don't take a bunch of abilities, take a few and concentrate on getting them as powerful as possible. Third, never move on from an area until you've killed every last enemy- you need the xp. Fourth, don't be afraid to run away temporarily- enemies will rarely follow you for any great distance and you can use the breather to recuperate, especially considering baddies don't respawn. I took mage/warrior and it's extremely powerful- jump attacks are very OP.
The other hard part is that you never know where to go or what to do.

Exactly -.-
Use a summon to tank, and use yourself magic or range attacks . Also, if you see it hard, just run in the opposite side of the enemy. They have a range of approaching. You run faster, so when you are after that range, they just stop chasing you and they go back to the point they were.

My summon dies in two hits. I die in three hits. Most of my spells are now inefficient since I'm been trying them all instead of specializing.
I'd rather play Touhou or Contra than a MMORPG.
Can't stand those things.

Yeah, rage quit on Amusidas. As in Alt-F4, delete local content :D

Oh well, it was cheap on a sale.

Tried a melee + magic charcter. Figured a tank would be a safe bet if i try again, but apparently not.
