LOVIS'S tOWER QUESTION

I remember doing the tower the first time I played (this is my second) and leaving through a L shapped room with 4 chains hanging from the roof. WELL THIS TIME i WENT TO THE ROOM WITH THE FIRE PIT AND THE SKELITON SELLING STUFF. I got the green globe out of the room with fire in it.
Then I went to see Lovis and when I keft I just left the tower. I seem to redcal leaving by going back into the fire room and pushing a button on the wall that this time nothing happened.
I need toknow if I messed up the quest. I gave the green globe to the priest and got the reward.
I just can't figure out why I could not leave the way I did the first time.

You could have used the scrying stone you picked up in the area with the skeleton merchant to get to the lowest level of the tower. By giving it to the priest without using it first, you've missed out on a good mindread (stat point) and a bit of experience.

If you don't have a save you can reload (or don't want to do so), enter the church and find the priest's notes, and you will get a quest, after which the door at the base of Lovis' tower (by the lake teleporter shrine) will be open, and you can enter that way.

I must hhave broken the quest. the notes are on the alter and when I pick them up it tells me they are in my inventory but my inventory does not have them. and the logbook says the notes
are still on the alter and the door is not open.
Could I get the stone from using the F11 key and return to the the place in the tower where I should have used it?

I found the notes and all is right.

BTW, you can use the scrying stone from anywhere, not just in the tower. It would not have worked using the Developer Mode to give yourself another, since handing it to the priest already updated the quest info.
