Divinity II: Developer's Cut

Divinity II: Developer's Cut

Divinity 2 or Beyond divinity first?
So I've finsihed the first Divine divinity, should I finish Beyond divinity before I start Divinity 2? Or can I just play 2 and later the beyond, I mean I dont want to spoil any story from the Beyond.

I have all 3 but haven't played the first 2, and didn't play them before I played Divinity 2 which is unfortunate, the game genre/isometric RPG doesn't look like my kind of thing and Beyond Divinity has story in it that I never knew about until I googled it after I've been playing Divinity 2.

Wow that's ages, some guy finished Divinity 2: Ego Draconis in 15 hours, most finish in 30-40 hours and here I am on 99 hours because of tedious things I worried about too much... :/

The first Divinity has great humour, its worth to play it, it needs some time to get into isometric games.

It better to play little slower because when speedrunning you loose much of the story. I never speedplay games.

It's really not hard to hit 100 hours if you explore everywhere and do all the side quests. Faster times are likely missing things and/or playing on easier difficulty levels.

There are books and dialogue in Divinity 2 which go over the main plot events of Beyond Divinity and the story between Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity (ie a summary of the BD novella, included as a pdf in the Developer's Cut).

For myself is Divinity 2 the best and Dragons Commander the worst, but you need to play all if you want the full story.
Divinity Original Sin has nothing to do with others before. It´s an own story.
beyond divinity games are trash, dont even bother playing them. they literally just copy/pasted a bunch of luegue of legeneds flash game clones.

There is only one Beyond Divinity game; it (release April, 2004) didn't copy anything from League of Legends (release October, 2009).

You must be joking.

I was kinda wondering if I should start with Devine and Beyond after it, and it looks I have to. Sadly though, the way Devine looks and plays I gotta say that it feels like utter crap. But if those 2 games are *THAT* important for lore and story, then I think I'll just have to get over it and (try to) enjoy those games ;-)

That's good to know. Got it as well amd perhaps a good start to get to know the series in general (as well as it's publisher)

They aren't. The relevant plot points are summed up in books and dialogue throughout Divinity 2. Beyond Divinity isn't directly relevant to the story, just the broad overview of DD and the events between DD and BD (the novella covering this is included in the Developer's Cut, and summed up in BD and D2:DC).

What is it you don't like about DD? It is a 2D RPG released in 2002. The graphics still hold up pretty well, IMO. The controls are the standard Diablo style for isometric RPGs of the time; quest design was good for the time (with the few fetch quests designed to encourage exploration, rather than filler), world interactivity is still pretty good (was very good for the time). The music and humour is great, IMO.
If the Aleroth Catacombs are the issue, you can leave town and come back to that later (leave it too long, as in complete certain main plot quests later, and the relevant quests will be solved without your help, so you'd miss out on the experience/rewards). If the initial quests and exploration in Aleroth just don't appeal to you, there is no need to foce yourself to play for the sake of Divinity 2 (lots of people were first introduced to the series with that game).
