Can you start a new game and save/load? If so, try loading an earlier save from your current game and see if you can save.
Try deleting the files within the dynamic folders (not the folders themselves, though);
'..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act1\Dynamic', '..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act2\Dynamic', etc.
These folders are used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied to those folders when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Beyond Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in those folders, deleting the files should fix the problem.
Beyond Divinity - Crash when saving game Act3, Catacombs (Spoiler!)[www.gog.com]
If you wish you can zip your save before starting that test and email it to me (raze@larian.com) to check out. Each save is a separate subfolder in the '..\Beyond Divinity\savegames' folder.
The last patch[larian.com] for the English disk version is 1.49. Re-release versions of the game may have the 1.47 installer and include the 1.49 patch on the disk.
The shield going in the leggings slot is the item corruption bug that you should be able to avoid playing in compatibility mode, but once it starts happening in a save that will not fix the problem.

For Raan's first test, you may want to switch your mage to a bow rather than an AOE spell (splitting arrows probably wouldn't be a good idea, but there shouldn't be too much trouble with other types). You should have 3 summoning dolls at that point in the game, which could at least distract the shadow creatures for a short time (they are not particularly tough at melee range, though the act 1 doll can provide good support with a crossbow if kept out of direct combat).
IIRC there are 3 armed guards and one unarmed, in addition to the shadow creatures. I didn't have any trouble passing the test in the original disk release, with a warrior / archer combination of characters (didn't bother using summoning dolls).
