There is a known issue in the download version of the game where completing the quest near the end of the act (philosophy level) to return an amulet to the merchant can cause the game to crash in saves made in the main game world. Saves made in the battlefield can load, but may crash when exiting back to Nemisis.
In that case, loading a save before bringing the amulet back should avoid the crash.
EDIT: one person who ran into this problem (and didn't have any recent saves to revert back to) found that they could fix the crash by replacing the world and objects files in their save with those from one of my saves. They replaced both the .0 and .1 files, though very likely only the .0 files would be necessary (the .0 files keep track of information for the main game areas, while .1 is for the battlefields).
The world.* files keep track of doors/walls/buildings, etc (including quest opened locations), and items directly on the ground. That person was able to complete the game successfully, and did not notice any issues from the replaced world files (only visited the BF for the traders, so didn't check the dungeons).

Here is a link for a save just before I completed the amulet quest. I have a couple later saves that will load in the main game, but would skip over some content you probably had not gotten to (and I'm not sure if they would continue to load without crashing if played from that point).

However, since you can do that level in whatever order you wish, it might be easier to start again from the beginning than figure out what I had already done (though that may just involve talking to everyone again).

Extract one or both downloaded zip files into your
'..\SteamApps\common\beyond_divinity\savegames' folder.
At that point I had the hero as a crossbow archer and the DK using a 2 handed sword (would have been better to make the DK a bow archer, since he doesn't need strength for armour).
You can switch from normal arrows to power arrows. I was hording them out of habit (special arrows were rarer and more expensive in the unpatched disk release, and BF merchant inventories didn't restock each time you entered the BF) and wasn't having problems, so didn't really need the extra damage. There is one fight in a confined space later that using splitting arrows for is quite effective, especially if you set up a crossfire with the hero and act 1 summoning doll both using them. I collected other special arrows, but never bothered switching to match an opponent's weakness, where applicable.
Both characters have some spare stat and skill points, so you can make some adjustments to their builds. There should be enough gold to unlearn a couple skills, as well.
ths so much fr be so kind and good tip....i gone try ur save and if have problem maybe just need start.
It is really caused by turning in the quest to the merchant.
I made a binary diff between the saves and files listed below were the changed(after turning the quest in):
I actually only needed to copy one of these files from earlier save (before completing merchants amulet quest): inv.b0
All my savegames in act IV crash the game if I load them. The last working savegame is when my char stands right in front of the academy (the very end of chapter III). I loaded this savegame several times, and it's always the same. No idea what causes it. It cannot be a quest issue (like in the case above) as it happens even if I save immediately after act IV starts, without doing anything in that act.
So, I just played act IV in one go, but then the game bugged out during the last fight. The fight wouldn't end, despite being over. Nothing would happen, and I couldn't do anything anymore except hitting ESC.
I tried the above mentioned fixes and copied inv, objects, world files, but nothing helped. The game always crashes. Does anyone have an idea which other data I could overwrite?
I would really like to finish this game for good after several years of playing it. Any help is appreciated.
(At least I found the video for the outro in the game folder, so I was able to see the ending. However, for proper closure, I would like to trigger it by playing.)
Dropping all Items before entering the Acadamy did not solve the problem.
I can load savegames from Act 3 - but trying to load saves from Act 4 leads to crash while loading.
How can I fix this?
!
Quick solution is using the English Steam version:
I can even load the German savegames without any problems now, but I am stuck to the English version.
Only (?) the German version of Act 4 seems to be affected by this severe bug which makes it unplayable.
