Proteus

Proteus

Proteus.exe has stopped working
Every time i try to run this error pops up instantly, i try full screen or windowed it doesnt matter. Also i am using win8 if that matters. Anyone else had this problem or know something about it? I have verified the cache and it's all there.

Turns out mine was caused by Webroot antivirus interfering. If you have Anti-Virus enabled, try allowing the game to run unaffected or turn the anti-virus off completely to see if it is the cause.

I tried turning off my anti-virus didn't change anything. Not sure what Webroot anti-virus is, i read about disabling it as a widespread fix, but isn't it just an antivirus program. I dont have it either way.

I believe there were some other remedys that worked for people such as putting the game in compatibility mode to disable some other features and or deleting a settings file. I don't remember exactly but those might be worth a try

Yeah tried compatibility mode and deleted the setting file in documents, it just replaces. i also downloaded a torrent to see if that would work but its the same issue so im out of ideas. there has been no official fix which is odd seeming as a lot of people have this problem.

i just had the same problem, on winodws 8
FredTheFailLord May 17, 2013 @ 12:11pm
Allowing wuwei.exe or whatever it was through antivirus fixed the issue for me.

I am having the same problem as well. I am trying to run it on a Surface Pro with Windows 8, 64 bit, Intel HD4000 with latest driver. I recently purchased Proteus and have never been able to get it to work. No other anti-virus is installed becides the built-in Windows Defender. I have tried every Windows compatability mode permutation without any success. The machine has ben refreshed back to original state and Proteus still will not work. This is very disappointing.

Hey i sorted the issue out by upgrading my gpu drivers, thought i was already up to date but it wasn't. This also fixed cry of fear and cave story+

Specs:
Win 8 64bit
gigabyte 7970Ghz
i7 3770k

So i guess if you got a similar setup and have same issues you should be able to fix it.

I'm having the same problem on 7. Haven't managed to get it to run once, it's most annoying...
