Ubuntu 12.10 Gamers: This game will not work out of the box

The developers require you to sign up for their forums for customer support & admit to not knowing much about linux. Directly on the forums they warn their own customers that they must be admin approved labeling everyone not approved as spam. This is what pushed me to complain about my problems here instead of there where I felt intimidated to even get customer support in their customer support section. Why should I sign up for something if you will just label everyone spam.

Any ways my issue is that the game crashes right on start up.

If you've got a controller plugged in, unplug it. Otherwise, put this file in ~/.config/MonoGame/

We don't use MonoGame, but we do use the config format I wrote for it.

The cause: You have a device that's breaking SDL joystick input. Not your fault, more the fault of whoever wrote the driver...

Don't have any controller pluged in, and also just tested it on ubuntu 13.04 same exact issue.
But it did work.

This also fixes laptop issues where the hard drive protection accelerometer appears as a joystick device, and this seems to confuse the game - thanks
