don't get me wrong, I love art based games. I just feel like walking through an empty island with a few trees and animated sprites is art, the music is good, but i don't think it justifies it.

I think the developers were trying to create something new and unusual. I think they suceeded well.

It might not be the most in depth game, but it is pretty enjoyable.

Play the game before you doom your credibility with such an ignorant statement. If you played through the seasons and reached the end of the game you would know that this statement is entirely false. I don't care if you fail to understand it either, that doesn't make your opinion right, and as far as I'm concerned, you just lied about and slandered a game I hold in high regards for its ability to do what it does so well and poignantly. that's a pretty serious accusation
calling an artist "pretentious" is now "lies and slander"?
slander is when a person lies about another, to damage they reputation and credibility.
saying a work of art is "pretentious" is not lying and slandering, its stating an opinion.
they think the developer is trying to be artsy but failed and is now sitting there smugly taking people's money and that's "pretentious".

i myself have not formed an opinion but from the trailer and description, this game does not look
"artsy and original"
it looks like a sandbox game minus all the things that make sandboxes fun.

i could do that in terraria, i could do that in minecraft.
imagina playing terraria or minecraft and all you could do is walk across the world and not mine blocks or kill monsters or build or plant trees and stuff? that's what this game looks like

Pretty sure this game isn't pretentious. If there's any assumption of importance, it is brought by the gamer, and when it isn't found in the game (or in themselves to find the importance), (s)he is let down.

No, this game is pretentious, because it tries to pass of lazy design as an "interactive experience". If the developer would have been honest and said, hey i made a pretty cool graphic engine with some passable random sound generation, check it out... i would not call it pretentious.

But now... it´s like... they try to justify the lack of any gameplay by passing it off as an experience about exploring. Well... if you wanted that, then maybe you should have included something to explore. Nothing happens. There is nothing to find.

It would be like... if Notched released a version of Minecraft where every aspect of interaction where removed, and he would justify it... i want you guys to EXPERIENCE the game in a new way.

For one dollar, maybe.. i would call it a decent experience. But TEN BUCKS?!! pathetic

It tells a story, conveyed through sound and music, with SOME visual. Some people cant wrap their heads around something that doesnt flat out tell you everything about it. I get an emotional response everytime I play it, but then again I am also the meditating type, and understand a few of the Zen Koans.

I think you give the devs too much merit, they just rode on the no_content_games bandwaggon.

And why not? If you can get away with putting so little effort in and still make a decent amount of money, more power to you. And then there are still people who will defend the "art vision" of the devs. It's pretty funny imho.
