Trouble rebounding
I'm getting absolutely destroyed on the boards. Teams keep getting offensive rebounds and tons of extra shot attempts. What are the boxing out mechanics in this game? Do I have to hold down a particular button in the paint, and can I command my teammates in the paint to box out? Thanks, the training camp never really spelled this out.

Boxout mechanics - (assuming your using a controller; can't really fathom using KB/M for NBA 2K lol) hold Left trigger to box out (L2 on PS3 controller). You can do this with whatever player your controlling but you can't command the CPU in anyway in regard to rebounding.

But, since the 'jump' to 2K11, when the mechanics and engine improved for NBA 2K - neither 2K11/12 has been as lop-sided and sporadic as 2K13 has been in rebounding. in 11/12 it was easy to box out because it would lock onto who you wanted to box out. 2K13 seems more loose/physics based which is both good and bad. Good in that its more real but bad in that its overpowered from these new signature skills, like Bruiser, Hustle Points, Scrapper. Overall its much harder to box out when your controlling your player and offensive rebounding is way too much.

Hopefully they patch it to make it a little more balanced, but overall it will depend on how good your team is inside, height/length/vertical/reb.ratings, who you have down low, and so forth. But yeah, nobody team should have 4-5 offensive rebounds in one possession this frequently.

That really helped, thanks! Glad to know the 4-5 offensive rebounds per possession isn't ALL my fault.

Np. & Yeah you can focus on crash boards and edit your team settings. I figure an interior D like 2-3 Zone might also help but that's sacrificing alot too.

This is what works for me:
I also had trouble with this until I figured out to lower "Fastbreak" frequency in the team settings. This makes own players rebounding the ball before running in the opponents half.

adjust sliders

sliders is really the only way to deal with it. The problem is, the AI is useless without cheesing offensive boards. So if you make it realistic, you'll end up pounding the AI

I had the same problem. Points guards were out rebounding me, it was ridiculous. I solved that by using a controller. Give it a shot

Crash Boards has always been only for offensive rebounding. The term itself should apply to both ends of the court, as in real basketball, but the NBA2K series has always just applied this logic to the offensive end.

Personally, I use the sliders and focus more on selecting a good rebounder and trying for better position when the shot is put up.
