Exact same error I get.
Anyone have a similar issue? I have replaced cables and updated software, deleted local cache and redownloaded/reinstalled the over 7gigs, and nothing works. My computer is a beast and can play anything at max, plus everything is updated as it should be.
Anyone know of a work around?
C
I got mine working just fine for a few days and now when I try to play it crashes again after I press start after the opening credits.
I didn't change any of the settings from when it was working. :/
I tried all the suggestions in this thread with no help.
Tried this. Did not work.

gonna get past that blasted Jay Z video dammitt......
Here's how to get the game to work:
1. Go to control panel and uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (I had two of these... I uninstalled both). If you have other years (2008, 2012), leave those alone.
2. Go to your Steam folder and find the folder for 2k13. Should be somewhere in Program Files>Steam>Steamapps>common>NBA2k13. Run vcrdist_x86.exe. It should install the correct version of C++ without any problems.
From there the game should run fine.
Was hoping this would work. Sadly not. I get the exact same crash as prior to doing the above.
I got it to work, weird, but it works...
Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > common > NBA2K13
Right Click on the nba2k13 exec file > properties > compatibility
check the run this program in compatibility box
have it check off as Windows 98 / Windows ME
then make sure u run it as administrator...
Hope this helps I got it to work with no crashing at all
Thanks bukwild. This has worked so far. Hopefully it can be patched though.
