Wow, that was the only thing that fixed it. After trying multiple different compatibility modes and other fixes recommended in other threads. How retarded.

i had the same problem. the first time i was able to play the game was 6 weeks after the purchase.
now i can play the game properly and i didnt have to crack it or anything like that.
the problem solved itself somehow

search google for "nba 2k13 no-cd" download the v1.0 file and copy the contents into your nba 2k13 folder, replacing old files

I managed to get it fixed by entering the NBA2k13 root directory (originally program files -> steam -> steamapps -> common -> nba2k13) then clicked with the right button at the nba2k13 program file (.exe) and selected properties, then at the compatibility tab I've checked the box "run this program under compatibility mode" and selected the (Windows XP Service Pack 3) compatibility mode. Voilà. Regards...

@Gehringer Thats how ive had mine to work. but past two days it wont work even with those settings. So something is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and that wont fix it.
