Patch 1.63.116523

Hello, today steam auto updated my Arma2 OA Beta to patch 1.63.116523 from 1.62.103718 and now when i try to join my regular servers it says incorrect game version. Does anyone know how to downgrade? Help please!

So basically my install said it failed, believe it tried through dayz commander which completely messed it up. Steam wont even try the update and says beta corrupted. Can even exe. the beta program as also says its corrupted. Cant update. Uninstalled all of it. Arma 2, operation arrowhead, and the beta, including Dayz Commander and resinstalled still issues. Annoying me cause I'm admin for a server and now cant access my game.

Any feedback on how to get the patch on the computer and dealt with would be appreciated.

Pissing me off royally.

Best bet is to wipe your entire install and wait until offical fix from bohemia sorry i couldnt help much more than that.

[1] Right click game in steam and delete local content.

[2] Go into your documents\arma2 you will find your profile there, just delete it. (you might want to back it up just in case you have some maps in there and so on)

If that dosent help you might have some extra files your missing so go into your steam folder and check it was all cleaned by the uninstall.

when your happy its all 100% Wiped try install arma 2 running it check it works
then oa then check then beta and check

if you need downgrade, you can just easily manually get rid of \Expansio\beta\ folder content

and then download older OA beta build with 1.62.x (like 108074) from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

please realize this is beta branch for testing betas ...

Tried going to programfiles/steam/steamapps/operationarrowhead. etc and deleting the files but its saying its corrupt and need admin control to delete but files so corrupt cant edit the properties of it. Basically trying to find some way around it but this is just ridiculous. Retarded update killed my weekend for arma playing.

Shame was just setting up a new server aswell, well new map for a server. Absolute fail of a update.

beta branch for testing betas.......that one of the most popular online games relies 100% upon, on a 4 day weekend

great planning guys, great testing, only 5 years down the line and you STILL dont have a complete file

I finally got eveything working. I opted out of beta, but all my Operation Arrowhead data was corrupted as well as British Armed Forces and Private Military Company. I redownloaded all 3 from Steam. Then through DayZ Commander, I changed Operation Arrowhead to .103718 and redownloaded DayZ and Epoch.

Moral of story: DISABLE auto-updating of ALL Arma 2 content.

@SuperSparkleTime are you the only user on your computer and if not who has admin control and also what version of windows i will persume windows 7 however if this differs let me know.

if properties really buggered try going up a layer ie if arma 2 oa dosent work try steamapps/comon and so on you may even have to edit the entire drive.

Windows 7 (with admin)
1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer

2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu

3. Click on Security tab

4. Click on “Advance”

5. Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings for User windows

6. Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then click on other users or groups. Enter name of user/group and click ok.

7. Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)

8. Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed

10. Now Owner name must have changed.

11. Now click Ok to exist from Properties windows

Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder next part comes is Granting Permissions to that file/folder or object.

How to Grant Permissions in Windows 7
1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer

2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu

3. Click on Edit button in Properties windows Click ok to confirm UAC elevation request.

4. Select user/group from permission windows or click add to add other user or group.

5. Now under Permission section check the rights which you want to grant i.e check “Full Control” under the “Allow” column to assign full access rights control permissions to Administrators group.

6. Click Ok for changes to take effect and click ok final ok to exit from Properties window.

as i say if this dosent work let me know as your issue maybe diffrent however this is a very common issue with windows 7 users

2. Above zip file contains two reg (registry) files InstallTakeOwnership.reg and RemoveTakeOwnership.reg.

3. Double Click on InstallTakeOwnership.reg to install Take Ownership option in context menu

Uninstall
In order to remove Take Ownership option double click on RemoveTakeOwnership.reg.

@Dwarden Hey dwarden the issue with the new patch is when i click host new and the go to host it after changing server name and pass the game CTD i wall only able to host on non beta build and well that crashed because we were beign chased by jets please fix beta

Has mutliple admins but My user has full admin abilities. Have uninstalled the programs have deleted the files, have downloaded the files from steam near 4 times which is a ridiuclous waste of data. Update wont happen. have tried previous patches, have tried deleting all content. Steam update is messing with the files. Dayz commander is also not working. Says cannot delete existing beta file path. during install of old patch tells me wrong CD key.

Can steam check if my CD key is working, Should I create a new file path.

Is it agreed this patch is a complete f* up? Bit dissapointed I've had to spend near two days on this issue.

This should fix the invalid CD issue

ERROR: "Bad Serial Number Given on Setup" or "Invalid or Missing Serial Number"

SOLUTION 1: Close Steam, then run as administrator. Run ARMA 2. Run ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead.

SOLUTION 2: Delete a file called "localconfig.vdf" in .\Steam\userdata\#\config
The # is a series of digits that varies depending on your account. (If you've had multiple accounts active through your computer.) Restart Steam and run it as administrator.

SOLUTION 3:
1. Uninstall A2/A2:OA entirely. (Including the folders in registry.)
2. Close Steam.
3. Run Steam as administrator and reinstall the games.

WHY: (solution 1) Steam writes your serial numbers into your registry , but cannot do it if it doesn't have the rights to edit registry. Running both games means that Steam will re-write both serial numbers for both games. That way DayZ will work the next time you try to play it.

my server updated to the new patch right away. my steam didnt and i cant connect to my server...any ideas how to force the update for steam operation arrowhead beta ???

@Bread for a temporary fix Bread use your servers ip to connect. direct connection wont be effected by gamespy shutdown
