controller moving erratically
I'm using a windows PC with FC 24 and an XBOX controller. After I came back from holiday the game behaves strange when starting up. The menus and actions make their own movements as if I'm pressing the joypad all the way to one side - so it the menu selection will move through all options like it's scrolling. I've just loaded two other games and the controller behaves normally with those, no issues. Does anyone have any ideas on what to try?

Try looking in the settings of the gamepad itself in the system. It looks like the stick has failed. It can be easily repaired, usually at home. If the balancer shows a shift in one direction, this is it.

i have the same problem and it cant be fixed, one way to avoid this is having second monitor and play the game on window mode on the second monitor and place your mouse cursor on the first monitor somewhere in the center so you can see it, but you must play the game on windowed borderless mode or windowed mode, because if you play it on fullscreen the mouse will not go outside the window of the game. I cant explain it but it looks like the mouse and the controller gets mixed up causing this issue and the players to run in 1 direction thus making your controller inactive. So if you dont have 2 monitors and only 1, play the game on windowed bordeless mode and place the mouse far right ot left down out of the screen as much as you can. If you have 2 monitors it will be better because you will be able to see the cursor

Thanks. Definitely not the controller or the drivers. I've used the Windows XBOX assistant and updated drivers, then removed the device totally and reinstalled.
I've tried with a cable, with a bluetooth dongle (which was working fine) and reinstalled the game. Nothing is working. Same problem. Will try to post a video

Thanks. I've tried this too. I have two monitors and have moved the game to windowed borderless and windowed mode - same problems, every time. I've used two controllers and no problems on other games. I need to try another game from Steam.

I've tried everything I can think of and that has been suggested online.

- connect using USB (all ports)
- connect using xbox bluetooth dongle
- remove all drivers and reinstall (inc update drivers) for controller and dongle
- remove the game and reinstall
- tried in big picture mode for steam, tried in windowed mode for game (normal is full screan)
- tried with Steam controller input and without
- downloaded xbox accessories app and controller looks fine on that
- tried non-steam games and all works fine
- tried another steam and worked fine (will double check this....tried so many things)

Your controller is broken.

thank you but I don't think that's correct. I have tried two controllers and have the same problem. I have tried different games with those controllers, connecting in the same way to the PC, and have no problems. It can't be a controller fault.

The reason I think its a broken controller is that its a common "tear" issue, that happens after longer usage. Basically its thumbstick drifting.

You can take the controller apart and try to fix it yourself (you need replacement items) so google that.
Before you do anything ofc, you have to test this in other games, if its the same in all, then there is a rather good chance the controller is broken and have the thumbstick drift.

Thanks. I have no issues in other games. Controller works perfectly via both the USB C cable and via the wifi dongle. To me this means the controller is fine without any stick drift. I'm eager to know what you think. I'm pretty sure the controller is fine. Wondering what else I could try? I've logged a bug ticket with EA.

Reinstall EA clint and EAFC
Update all drivers
Try different cables
If its still an issue reinstall OS.

Thanks.

Reinstall EA clint and EAFC - done already
Update all drivers - done already
Try different cables - done already
If its still an issue reinstall OS - thanks for the advice but I'm not prepared to reload the OS for one game problem. I'll keep looking for a fix.

Just to add, this has only started happening in the past week or so. This was fine for a very long time ( I have been playing for months).

Video of controller reacting to actions with the XBOX accessories app - should show that the controller is not behaving strangely for the PC or OS.
