Soul Stone bid bugged?

I'm entering the first auction event with 3000+ souls and still get "I've run out of souls" dialogue, which forces me to use an oracle, even though starting price is only 2000... Is it bugged, or just railroaded, or there's other requirements?

Railroaded. You used to be able to buy the Soul Stone from the store (it was really expensive, but not impossible to get). The dialogue was the same, and I actually finished the game with an extra one.

Nah the game supposes that nobody could've got 2000+ souls at the first auction cuz it really is quite hard. But obviously the producers never thought of anyone would've done so and forced you to get into the dialogue in which you run out of souls

I maxed an oracle that that increases the room capacity, which yielded couple hundred raw souls per day. Then sold off spirit coins to Hoshino's to pay for refining. Got me to about 40% evil tho

You can also (the most cursed knowledge in the game) use the oracle that awards a free ingredient per synthesis to get an excessive amounts of wealth/souls/items/insight.

what i should really ask do you need to "harvest" souls to play this game or would it hurt to much not doing it? Alchemy just doesn't give enough?

I guess not really? Trying various things is the fun part anyway
