Nope. I can't quite think what you'd need to customise anyway.

Being able to select droids through number keys would be nice :)
Sometimes it's quite a struggle to select a specific droid.

I think I'll add that though.

I never used either arrows nor ZERD (non English keyboard) I don't care much for the mouses setup that are fine for me but I can't play the game because of keyboard commands, perhaps I could define a special keyboard to use only with this game but well.

So I use ERT-SPACE for the movements and it's like that since multiple decades, too late to change that now. :-)

Time to retrain your fingers!

Would it be so hard to add an option to re-bind those four movement direction keys?
On non-english keyboards the WSAD keys aren't always situated in the triangle formation you're expecting them to be in...

It's a whole bunch of work for almost no gain (for us) - you must understand, we make a complete pittance on our games. We'll be lucky if we don't make a massive loss on Droid Assault as it is.

You can use the cursor keys too, of course. Also I think we put in controls compatible with AZERTY keyboards in Ultratron - that's easy to put in to DA.

Fair enough.

In truth, if someone has a keyboard that doesn't fit the controls you've given, it's possible for them to re-bind their keyboard within the operating system itself.
I once had an old laptop where the B key stopped working and I managed to create a new keyboard layout file for windows so that the ~ key would produce B for me instead.

Another alternative if they have a joystick or controller of some sort is to use joytokey to map the directional input from the controller to the WSAD inputs the game is expecting.

I'm surprised no framework proposed a fair enough complete solution for keybinding with a file setup and compatibility with Mac/Windows/Linux.

Not first time I read such dev comment about custom controls and I wonder why deve need reinvent this wheel again and again, woo.

On Mac it's not as easy to guaranty a working solution. Since some version of the system a new ability to define your own keyboard setup has been added and some freeware allow define one custom more easily. And then the keyboard menu could includes that new definition. But I did noticed it doesn't work with all games that probably target lower level keys definition or something.

Ha found back why I gave up on this game. So still no custom controls?
cprince  [developer] Dec 30, 2013 @ 7:27am
still no. Must make some hacky solution that works. Trouble is diagnosing vast array of controller problems at the moment.

I wonder if there exists a third party program similar to joytokey, but performing the inverse function.
That would be, a program that allows you to bind joystick inputs to keyboard buttons.
Since the game has support for joysticks/controllers, emulating one with the keyboard would solve a lot of control config issues.
