My game has been removed from the Steam store.
Dear players, hello everyone. I'm glad that you like my game, but unfortunately, the game has been removed for a week. My four and a half years of hard work have been in vain, and I don't know how to solve the issue of the game's removal.

The publisher of "Elegy Of Fate," BD Games , has been banned by Steam, resulting in all the games they published being removed. Without any explanation, Steam has banned my game. As a game developer, I have not done anything to violate Steam's rules, but this inexplicable removal is disheartening for us developers. The game's backend system is now locked, preventing any updates or new content from being pushed. I really don't know what to do.

If anyone out there can help, I hope you can assist in restoring the store or transferring the game rights from BD Games back to us developers. This incident has had a significant impact on my life, and the strength of one person is limited. I put my dreams into this, and all that remains for me now is regret.

Outside of just using Steam support (which is probably useless), best thing to do is using Twitter or Reddit to report on this and hope this gets picked up by outlets.

Also try and get in contact with other devs that worked on games published by BD Games.

This really sucks and if there really wasn't any word on yours and anyone else's game getting removed as well then that's messed up.

I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you can work things out eventually.

it's hard for anyone to actually be able to give much advice given the confidentiality of contracts etc. however I think something fishy is going on against you as not all games published by BD games are removed from steam. Depending on the state of contract and any breaches annulments etc the next best thing is to publish yourself or find another.

I'm pretty sure all remaining games that were published by BD Games are co-published and so I guess Valve doesn't think those should be removed because of that.

So one It's China, I will not be able to say what will or won't work as i know little of the privileges/limitations regarding the legalities that may take place in this situation. Two, what the contents of the contract between the publisher and dev are is likely not available to disclose to those outside said contract making it hard for anyone outside to really help. That being said here are a few things to look at and leverage if possible.
1. Breach of contract on the publisher's end.
2. Stakes/buyout of the game rights.
3. Contract length/stipulations
4. Legal ownership (majority) Obligation to the majority ownership's interest is generally a thing globably.
5. Highly situational to what the rest of the list entails but SUE. You put that much time so you decide if its worth fighting for and what its worth at that point.
*Now this technically should be number one but again I don't know the full process for you guys in china, but get legal representation to look into the matter and fight on your behalf

That's crazy. I hope we can resolve this some how. This developer updated their game more than or very close to all early access teams that i know of. Gaming world is crazy these days. You got Pax Dei or should I say Pax Die over there early access subscription scamming people and then you got this poor individual getting the rug pulled out from them because of someone elses misdeeds.

Yeah Pax Dei comes into Early Access super overpriced like a bunch of EA games of recent just to hit everyone with a sub once the EA period is over.

Absolutely disgraceful

Hello dev, I had a short conversation with Google's AI chatbot, Gemini, about your situation and I think you might find its advice helpful. I have formatted the conversation in a way that's easy for you to copy+paste in an automated translator. Here is the conversation: https://pastebin.com/PLynEpvu

Additionally, another game that was removed because of BD Games getting banned, Artifact Seeker, also has a forum post about the situation and you might find some advice in the discussion. If you can't recover, find another market.
There's no need to hold on to it, I know (you/u) put a lot of effort into making this game. (but these are their rules)

Seems like dev will be self publishing this time.

There is already store page but no release date yet:

I checked my wish list today and it seems to have disappeared again. What's the problem? Another game with the same name is being searched. Is that why?

I hope the developer doesn't give up on this game, it's a shame because it's a really unique and well-made game.
