Letters Next to Aiming Cursor

I sometimes see a letter "P" or "A" next to my aiming cursor, does anyone know what these mean?

I think that highlights when you can pick up a weapon, and possibly when you can activate something aswell.

Ah, I was thinking that it denoted a puzzle piece. Cleared that up.
